The most important reason to join Friends of Portland Public Library is to show your support for Portland’s public library system! Friends of Portland Public Library focuses on:
Advocacy—Promoting public awareness and advocating for the Library system.
Community input and collaborations—Identifying new collaborations and helping ensure the Library continually meets the needs of its constituents.
Volunteer support—Expanding the Library’s extensive use of volunteers.
Fundraising—Developing new ways to provide financial support to the Library, including an annual book sale.
Programming—Creating new Library programs for all locations in the city.
Members receive the Friends quarterly newsletter, opening night preview and party for the annual book sale, weekly e-mails from Portland Public Library announcing events and activities (PPLNews), and other periodic benefits.
